The Tally for 2025 December 31, 2025 Writing-wise, the year 2025 was spent mostly on completing the second draft of my current novel-in-progress. In fact, I wrote just a handful of short stories. And with only a handful of short stories, I wasn't able to submit anywhere near as much as I had the year before, and as a result, I had only a single publication: "The Last Page of the Magazine" published over at Sci Phi Journal. [1] As for the novel second draft, I was able to finish it just a few days ago. Now all I need to do is go through it, give it a polish (which I hope will only take a month or so) and then it's time to send it off to a beta-reader(s). Barring any drastic changes indicated by the beta-reader(s), I hope to have it to an agent by the end of 2026. So what's on tap for 2026? Well, I've a few short-story ideas piled up that need to be gotten out of my head. And I'm roughly half-way through the first draft of the next novel, so I need to finish that, as well. And as always, there's bound to be some life-related stuff to crop up in 2026, both planned and not. But no matter what, I intend to continue writing as much as I can in 2026. We'll tally up the results at the end of next year. Best wishes to everyone for 2026, both in life and in writing.
